CONDITIONS TREATED BY PROLOTHERAPY

Prolotherapy offers a safe, effective, non-surgical method of treating many painful conditions. If you are living with chronic pain or reduced function or mobility, Prolotherapy may be the right choice for you.

You may have been told that your only options are to either live with your condition or undergo surgical repair or joint replacement. Unfortunately, because many health providers today are not familiar with the potential benefits of Prolotherapy, your doctor may not realize that Prolotherapy is an effective alternative that helps many patients avoid surgery and eliminate pain.

With Prolotherapy and Neural Prolotherapy, many common conditions can be treated with excellent results, returning patients to higher levels of function while avoiding the need for surgery. The following sections discuss some of the conditions that may be successfully managed with Prolotherapy.

Back painBACK PAIN

Prolotherapy is highly effective in the treatment of chronic low back pain, sacroiliac pain and dysfunction, and pain arising from disc herniation. It is especially useful in treating lumbosacral and sacroiliac instability resulting from loose ligaments (laxity). These conditions are some of the most common causes of chronic pain and disability, as well as being the single most expensive health care problem in the western world.

Back pain is frequently caused by ligament degeneration in the spinal and sacroiliac ligaments. Weakened ligaments lead to instability and pain in the back as well as referred pain into the legs.

Prolotherapy results in consistent reduction and elimination of low back pain, sacroiliac and referred pain in up to 80% of patients.

HIP PAIN

Many hip problems such as trochanteric bursitis, hip capsule problems, buttock pain and adductor sprain respond well to Prolotherapy.

Neck painNECK PAIN AND WHIPLASH

The forces involved in a whiplash injury result in ligamentous injury of the cervical spine, often leading to prolonged and chronic pain, weakness and stiffness. Prolotherapy stimulates regeneration and recovery from these debilitating injuries

HEADACHES

Prolotherapy, especially in combination with other modalities such as osteopathic manipulation, is very effective in the treatment of headaches arising from neck trauma, muscle tension and stress.

Sports injuryKNEE AND SHOULDER PAIN

By strengthening and repairing connective tissues, Prolotherapy is an excellent treatment for knee pain due to arthritis, degenerative joint disease, patellar tendonitis, and sports-related ligament injuries.

Prolotherapy is also proven effective in the treatment of rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability, tendonitis, and degenerative problems of the shoulder.

SPORTS INJURIES

Prolotherapy effectively treats many sports related injuries arising from both acute injury and overuse. These include tendinopathies such as those involving the patellar, rotator cuff, achilles, elbow and hamstring tendons. Many athletes are able to return to their sports sooner and more effectively following Prolotherapy treatment.

ELBOW AND WRIST PROBLEMS

Epicondylitis, tendonitis, chronic wrist sprain and other conditions of the upper extremity are highly amenable to Prolotherapy treatment.

ANKLE AND FOOT INJURIES

Chronic ankle instability and pain, plantar fasciitis and other foot problems are successfully treated and cured with Prolotherapy.

CHRONIC REGIONAL PAIN SYNDROME

Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), also referred to as RSD, is a chronic condition characterized by nerve dysfunction and pain. Neural prolotherapy offers a promising method for the relief of the often disabling symptoms of this disorder.
